Windsor Represents The Bahamas at the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge in Geneva, Switzerland

The Windsor Junior Robotics Team represented The Bahamas at the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Grand Finale in Geneva, Switzerland, this summer.

Luc Frendo (Grade 8), Seth Cartwright (Grade 8), Eli Carter (Grade 7), and Jack Hearn (Grade 7)competed against top teams from around the world across four qualifying rounds, where their robots vied for high scores in two of the UN “Food Security”-themed missions.

With parents and grandparents cheering them on, our coders worked together to improve their performance scores in each qualifying round, adapting their robot to a series of competitive challenges.

The Windsor Wolves eventually placed 14th out of 28 teams from around the world, with 160 points as their best qualifying round. It was an amazing performance and a wonderful experience for our participants. They persevered, worked as a team, and were respectful to opponents and judges throughout the competition – representing both Windsor and The Bahamas with pride.

During their time in Geneva, the team also visited the Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire (CERN), one of the top scientific facilities in the world. Our coders were also invited to the Permanent Mission of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, where they spent time with Ambassador Patricia Hermanns and her colleagues, chatting about school, robotics, and their current progress in the competition.

The trip was a wonderful experience for our students, and we are proud of our Robotic Teams for representing Windsor and The Bahamas on such a large global stage.
