Windsor students achieved exceptional Advanced Placement scores for the second year in a row, far exceeding international averages in a testament to their hard work and deep academic engagement.
Fifty-six Windsor students from Grades 10-12 took 129 individual exams across 14 different courses in May. Students earned a score of 3 or higher on 88% of tests – a pass rate well above the international average of 72% in those same courses.
AP courses require university-level work and are benchmarked to the College Board’s rigorous, internationally recognized standards. AP exams demand sustained critical reasoning, careful reading and writing, and thoughtful application of knowledge. A score of 3 or higher on the final exam indicates a student’s college-level proficiency in that subject, and many colleges and universities around the world accept scores of 3, 4, or 5 as transferable college credit.
The strength of these results comes into even sharper focus course by course. Windsor students posted a 100% pass rate in eight courses – Biology, Computer Science, English Literature and Composition, English Language and Composition, Macroeconomics, Precalculus, Physics, and Spanish Language and Culture – all courses where international pass rates typically sit between 60 and 80%.
This year also brought well-deserved recognition for many individual students. The College Board named 26 Windsor students AP Scholars – roughly 46% of our AP test-takers, well above the global average of 10%. That group includes 15 AP Scholars, one AP Scholar with Honor, and 10 AP Scholars with Distinction, one of whom also earned the AP International Diploma.
